The Creative Commons – Free Community Art Group

The Creative Commons is a free, open-to-the-public community art group for Adults

Led by our art therapist in a non-therapy capacity, this group offers a relaxed space to make art, explore new materials, and connect with others through creativity. There’s no pressure to share, no clinical processing, and no artistic experience required — just a supportive community space to express yourself.

This is not an art therapy group. It’s simply a chance to gather, create, and enjoy the process alongside others in the Bay View community.

Join us, bring a friend, and make something that brings you joy.

Space is Limited so Contact Haley Directly to Reserve Your Spot.

December: Carrying Our Communities with Us

Wednesday 12.17.2025 6:30-8:30PM

Reimagining our families as both biological and chosen community

The holidays can bring up complicated emotions — missing loved ones, navigating tense relationships, or feeling disconnected. In this month’s Creative Commons gathering, we’ll explore what community means to you and imagine new ways of supporting yourself through the season.

Together, we’ll create “suitcases of community” out of Altoid tins, filling them with items that represent your chosen family, the places you feel supported, and reminders of your worth, values, and needs.
You’re welcome to bring any meaningful materials (photos, small trinkets, etc.).

Materials provided: Altoid tins, collage supplies, beads, clay, paint, markers, buttons, wire, paper, and more.

January: Custom Self-Care Kit & Vision Board Minis

Wednesday 01.21.2026

Start the new year with intention by designing your own custom self-care kit. We’ll decorate another Altoid tin using a wide array of materials — perfect as a reminder to take meds, stay aligned with your goals, or bring small moments of self-care wherever you go.

You’ll also have the option to create mini vision board magnets, punch-needle patches, or small clay reminders of your goals for the year.

Materials provided: Altoid tins, collage materials, embroidery thread, canvas, clay, markers, and more.

February: Self-Love Creatures

Wednesday 02.18.2026

A Valentine’s-themed evening focused on nurturing self-love and self-compassion.
Participants will sew a small self-love creature or heart-shaped stuffy, filling it with positive statements and reminders of your inherent worth. If sewing isn’t your thing, you can also create a sock doll using glue, felt, buttons, and other materials.

Materials provided: Socks, poly-fill, felt, buttons, googly eyes, needles, thread, hot glue, and more.
Sewing techniques will be demonstrated, with both sewn and no-sew options available.
